Why Staycation?

I fell in love with travel, history, and current events as a young girl and the bug has stayed with me forever. My fantasy would be to travel the world; however, realistically work and other considerations have kept me based in Chicago and areas that are drivable without an overnight stay.

Luckily for me and my traveling partner, my husband Chris, Chicago constantly rewards us with great adventures. On weekends we can jump in our PT Cruiser or catch a bus and go to Paris at the French Market in the Olgivie Train Station, travel to Mexico at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen, travel to the Middle East by walking to the Oriental Institute in Hyde Park, visit spectacular sand dunes at the Indiana National Lakeshore in Northwest Indiana, and the list goes on. These are some of my favorite destinations and admission is free.

We came up with the idea of using this website to share our travel ideas with Chicagoans and visitors outside the area, since we think you also have had that question, "It's Sunday and we want to have an adventure today."
